"- So, my story is over an increasing disfunction in my left ankle. It was getting painful to walk and I could see the progression, so my PCP recommended me to Ortho Carolinas and they assigned me to Dr. Sebold. I agreed to surgery for Osteochondritis Dissecans of the Talus and Sprain of Tibiofibular Ligament. They also removed some bone spurs they found while operating. Now at three months I’m still worse off than before the surgery and I’ve discovered why all the reviews I read prior to approval were so negative about Dr. Sebold. All the reviews were about his personality and bed side manner and none about his surgical skills and results. I don’t know about his positive/negative result ratio, but I just today found out what the personality problem is. - The problem is; Dr. Sebold just does not want to talk to you, and, if the results you are discussing are negative he’ll go into defensive mode and provide limited, short or no answers and terminate the visit with; “Ok, I’ll see you back in X number of months” and then exit the examination room. At this point his concern, ‘if’ he ever had any is to protect himself, and the patient can go to * and suffer; not his fault. He thought it comical when I described how I often had to walk like Chester from the old TV show Gunsmoke. - My strong advice to anyone considering agreeing to a surgical procedure with this doctor: o Write up a list of questions prior to each visit with staff or Dr. Sebold. MAKE them answer every question in detail to YOUR satisfaction and, Record. It. All. Pretend you are an attorney at a deposition and write their responses down in full. It may help in the future if you must have an attorney represent you. It’s best to have your companions take notes and record staff and Dr. Sebold’s responses so you can be free to discuss the questions you have without interference. o Do NOT go to any visit, consultation, whatever, alone! Just don’t, period; you need one or more witnesses to verify what he tells you in the beginning and what he tells you after the surgery and every step of the way! ? If you must go alone, purchase a voice recorder app for your phone and record everything from the time you walk into Ortho Carolinas and don’t turn the recorder off until you’ve left the building. Record every conversation you engage in with staff or Dr. Sebold. You can have this transcribed and provide it to your attorney. - Ultimately, my advice, hire another surgeon. "
