"This Psychiatrist has an issue of a lack of respect with his clients. I found him arrogant, condescending and & someone who plays power trip mind games with his clients. He does not base his DX on individual observation but instead rely's heavily on "family history", this is a dangerous practice and can be full of error if the family has ulterior motives. It may be legal but is a professionally and morally bankrupt practice. He is constantly tardy, interrupts by baiting pauses, then blames the client for being rude and speaking out of tern. Dr. Patel is at both Depaul and Chistian N/E. He has in my opinion violated my civil rights and the HIPPA laws by speaking in open hallway to family members without legitimate written release permission, thereby violation HIPPA. Any difference of opinion with this Psychiatrist is met with dismissive criticism. During the time I saw him he received 4 written complaints in one day from clients regarding his disrespectful and controlling behavior. He treats people for mental health and chemical dependency... he had a failure to blow on a breathalyze test in 1996 and got off with a $45 fine and confessed. Why is he treating chemical dependency issue's? The staff at BJC engages in ECT for clients for everything from depression to drinking problems. There are less invasive and dangerous treatments. MRI's show brain damage occurs from ECT. The clients are said to be better as they become more cooperative...of course they are dazed and their cognitive processes are compromised. In many cases the client can recover there faculties from one session...however multiple session are employed... BJC has the nickname of "jiffy Jolt" for the reputation of high volume of client given the procedure. There is no scientific proof this so called treatment works, but there is tangible evidence from MRI's that brain damage does occur. This Psychiatrist engages in the practice, I am not one of those victims as he was quickly advised he would be sued along with BJC if he attempted it after threatening me with it. I was not a proper candidate.
