"I’m actually not pleased at all with this office! I originally booked an appointment with Dr. Kendall and arrived to the office at my scheduled time but he didn’t even come see me. He left me to the nurse practitioner (who was wonderful by the way but that doesn’t change the fact that my original appointment was with Dr. Kendall and he didn’t even make an appearance. Moreover the front desk woman took 5 min to even acknowledge that I’m standing there waiting to be checked in (even though I observed that with the next 5 patients she immediately attended to them). It’s possible that she might have been trying to finish something up when I was waiting but she still could have said something simple like “I’ll be with you shortly” instead of completely ignoring me for a good 5-10 min. Finally, as I was checking out I asked why I wasn’t seen by Dr. Kendall despite my appointment being with him and the receptionist told me this is normal for first visits since that’s when they ask for tests or Xrays only but in my following visits, I should see him. However, when I called to move my follow up appointment (which is supposed to be with Dr. Kendall as per my original app. and as per the receptionist) I was told that my app. is with the NP and not with Dr. Kendall at all. So it seems like they just switched me to the NP without telling me even though I specifically requested to be seen by the doctor and moreover gave me wrong info on my way out making it seem like I’m still his patient but that he will start seeing me once we go into the actual treatment. I want to reiterate that the Nurse practitioner who saw me was fabulous (Dr. Charles, Lowe) but it’s really unprofessional of the office to just switch my provider without my consent when I originally came in for Dr. Kendall who I obviously chose for a reason. "

What is Interventional Pain Medicine?

Interventional pain medicine is a specialty that is devoted to the management of pain through medical procedures, without the routine use of prescription medications. Usually practiced by anesthesiologists or pain medicine specialists, this subspecialty has had a marked increase in demand in recent years, as the illegal abuse of narcotic painkillers has become a nation-wide problem.

Interventional pain medicine physicians must be adept at diagnosing their patients. Until they can accurately pinpoint the source of the pain, it can be difficult to treat it effectively. In some cases, the pain has an obvious cause, such as the hurt experienced when healing after surgery or when dealing with some cancers. Spinal cord stimulation, or the use of electrical currents along the spine to interfere with the transmission of pain signals
Implanted intrathecal or epidural injection drug delivery systems
