Neurologists - Munster, IN

"I saw her last year for help with my fibromyalgia pain as I was recommended to see a neurologist. Dr Papa-Rugino was nice when she first came into the room, she started reading my chart and asking me questions. As soon as she found out I am a smoker and was on a high dose of Tramadol(which my pain management dr prescribed me and I took as directed) for my pain her entire demeanor changed. She got really short with me and told me that no one would help me as long as I am on tramadol. I left the office in tears and never went back. I am writing this a year later because of the events that followed this visit. I made a decision to get off tramadol because she made me feel like scum for being on it. The last year has been a pure torment . I've been trying to pursue other medication combinations, and nothing has worked. I am in excruciating pain, my quality of life has declines more than 50% my husband and daughter are suffering because I am not myself and am unable to do the things a wife and mother should. I just recently found a doctor that specializes in fibromyalgia and has me back on tramadol at a much lower dose(the only thing that helps in my case anyway). I am slowly starting to get my life back. I allowed this woman to shame me and make me feel 2 inches tall for being on a medication that helps me just because she didn't approve. Her bedside manner was terrible and it put me off on ever wanting to see a neurologist ever again! She needs to work on her people skills and remember why she became a doctor in the first place! Doctors are supposed to help people not make them feel like scum because they don't agree with things their patients are doing(ex: smoking cigarettes) I think that most doctors have forgotten they are supposed to help people anymore, and I have this opinion because over the last 10 years I have seen my fair share of doctors and the ones that actually care are few and far between!"
