"Ended up seeing this guy for over a year. First, Bongio cancelled my surgery (cheilectomy) without even telling me, then told me he didn't think the surgery would help me anyway. This was done at the Des Plaines location of the Weil Foot & Ankle Institute in February 2017. Swallowed a lot of pride to return to him later that year, hoping I could trust his clinical expertise over his demeanor and people skills. Bad, bad mistake. He can't keep your history straight, changes his recommendations like a weathervane, and can't even remember the name of the colleagues in his own office. Also once said that he sees six patients an hour. Six an hour? That's the kind of surface, high-volume provider he is."

"I have recently had some bad experiences with doctors either being too short on time and responses as well as judgemental, not seeming to truly care or not even paying attention. Dr. Friend has turned all that around for me! He made a genuine introduction, walked me through step by step, asked the necessary questions to get to the bottom of my problem, was punctual, swift (in a good way) and truly seemed to care! I was also pleased with the clean office and generally friendly staff. I say generally, because there was one receptionist that seemed annoyed when I needed help. But the nurses and other front staff were very friendly."

"Went to him for surgery to have nail taken off permanently but it grew back. I was in pain after surgery since he told me to put ear infection medicine (weird). It did not heal properly & hurting & still yet after 2 years. He told me to stop soaking toe, stop wrapping it, stop putting sauve on it 3 weeks after surgery. I knew that was way too soon & I almost got an infection - in pain & red & still had Open Hole on toe. Doctor in his office told me 3 weeks is way too soon & go back putting sauve on it. I knew his method was incorrect since I had it done on other toe 5 years earlier."
