"Was referred to this doctor when my child tested positive for Lyme disease. While holding my child's CDC positive lyme test results in her hand,she said,"Doctors who treat Lyme lose their license",and " I have no evidence to treat her." This is one rude uncaring doctor. Patients denied Lyme disease treatment lose their life. I wouldn't let her treat my dog if I had one. Do not trust her opinion! My child has been suffering w/ health issues related to untreated Lyme disease. "

What is Pediatric Infectious Disease?

Pediatric infectious disease is the medical specialty that cares for children with infectious diseases. Lung and respiratory infections, such as tuberculosis (TB), pneumonia, meningitis, pertussis (whooping cough), and rubeola (measles)
Bacterial and viral infections, such as COVID-19, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), botulism, mumps, polio, West Nile virus, and others
Parasitic infections, such as lice, malaria, amebiasis (a condition caused by water-borne parasites)
Sexually transmitted diseases
Skin infections, such as varicella (chicken pox), eczema, scabies, and fungal skin infections
Fevers of unknown origin or unknown conditions acquired during travel

Pediatric infectious disease specialists diagnose children through a variety of laboratory tests on blood, mucus, or other fluid samples.
