"I started with Dr. Taub on a referral from my primary with a sharply increased PSA. After exam and biopsy, I was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer. Dr. Taub operated, but it had already escaped and then I went for chemo. At an appointment on October 12, 2013, this caring, professional admitted that he knew very little about my rare form of cancer. Considering the lethality of cancer, I changed insurance and started going to specialists at Moffitt. when I told Dr. Taub about this, he got extremely upset. He is not an oncologist even though he does a lot of cancer treatments. My cancer is so rare it is measured at 1/2 of 1% of all prostate cancers, and I found specialists who are experts and knowledge in this particularly rare cancer. Not only did that make him so angry he was raising his voice with me, he then sent me a letter saying he could never treat me again, regardless of the reason. His office staff was extremely difficult to deal with throughout the time I was seeing him, never answering the phone and rarely returning calls. But I stuck with him as long as I did (2 years) because of his excellent, professional manner and apparent competence. His reaction to my exercising my right to a second opinion and seeing specialists is inexcusable."
