"Yes, at first, just like some of the other reviewers stated, she is personable, friendly and awesome when you first meet her. She was good about returning calls and responding to emails. Mind you, it was a nightmare dealing with her office staff and I was put on hold for over 45 minutes when I tried making my first appt (which should've been a telltale sign for what was to come). I had to meet with the PA and the other Doc before finally dealing with Dr.Long and after I told Dr. Long all of the hoops and jumps I had to go through she pretty much said that the front office was staff was useless and one in particular was "just an idiot" and that she was going to bring in her office mgr from her other location to help sort the staff out. OK - I thought it was odd for her to say that about her staff, but I tried not to read into it because I really wanted to get the ablation scheduled as soon as possible and I was already 3 appts in with her office. Fast forward to the night before procedure, I get a call from her. She said she just wanted to check in with me. I was obviously happy and pleasantly surprised that she called and felt even better about having the procedure done. The day came and the procedure seemed to go as planned. But in the middle of the procedure, she needed to order another machine because the other one was faulty. She told my husband about the hiccup but also asked him not to say anything to me?????? WHAT????? Why would she hide that from me and tell him not to say anything to me???? About 4 days after the procedure the cramps and bleeding kicked in pretty hard. I called the office and got a call back from the PA. She said all was normal and not to worry about it and to take Advil. On Day 11 (from procedure), the discharge and bleeding eventually got down to almost nothing. But right around the 2 week mark (from procedure) I started getting period like symptoms. Cramps, spotting, bloating and then the bleeding came and it was painful. The odd thing was that it was heavy for an hour or two and then nothing the rest of the day. I called the office, I called the after hours hotline and I even called her other location and NO ONE ever got back to me. NO ONE. I was told that she was on vacation and to go to ER. I justt needed to know if it was normal for bleeding to show up after almost not having anymore discharge. Plus, it was 2 weeks after an ablation. Of course, I am going to have questions when the bleeding is much heavier than what I was told to expect. Apparently no one was covering her while she was on vacation. My post op appt had already been scheduled prior to all of this so on the day off the appt, I got a call from her office telling me we needed to cancel it and I refused to cancel. I was still bleeding (not spotting) and I needed answers and needed to know what was going on. When I finally saw her, she was super nonchalant about the lack of communication. Once again, she put the blame on her staff. But I was so concerned about the bleeding that I went with it and focused on what was going on with me. She said it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to be on my period and was so confident that it was not my period. She also did an ultrasound and didn't seem too concerned because all looked like it was healing properly. About a day after the appt, I had realized that I forgot to ask her a few questions so I called her office asking for someone to call me back. I also sent her a quick email. I had questions that should take no more than a minute to answer and I never got a call or response from anyone so I tried again. Still no luck. Exactly 22 days after my last period (because I know that's what it was even if Dr. Long was it was not a period) I am on my period again. And still no return phone calls and now my questions and concerns are now much bigger. I am now wondering if something did go wrong during the procedure and she saw something in the ultrasound that she wants to avoid? I honestly don't know. What I do know, is that I need a second opinion. I have filed a complaint with my insurance company, with my IPA and with the hospital. It is not OK for a doctor to treat their patients like this. Even if she can't call back, at least have someone from their office call you back. An ablation is not a simple PAP smear. It is considered a non invasive surgical procedure. A procedure I was looking forward to having done so that I did not have to deal with heavy periods anymore and here I am, dealing with some of the same issues. I was open minded about what to expect afterwards because I know not all ablations are successful, but not having the support from the OB and feeling like I have to figure things out on my own is causing me more stress than necessary. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DR LONG FOR YOUR DOCTOR UNLESS YOU JUST NEED A HUG AT THE END OF YOUR VISITS. I would've been OK not getting the hugs if she would just pick up the phone and answer my questions. "
