Dermatologists - Phoenix, AZ

"The search for a good dermatologist that cares about your issues in this area of Phoenix is still ongoing- this is not it. After being seen at a different branch and being dismissed with a blanket treatment for my true concern (seems like acne is the only thing the original dr cared about) , I decided to try a different doctor to see if I could have better luck. Sadly, the only bright spot was the lovely receptionist. The absolute WORST assistant? Is what I'm assuming the short blonde was- holy moly how unprofessional, rude and dismissive! She stops me and reiterates the last diagnosis saying 'well he can look at the diagnosis again' like I'm an idiot - even though I explained exactly what happened last time. She SLAMS the door- starts talking to the doctor outside. I literally could hear her describing my concern as something that had been addressed in the past- that I*** was trying to say was a different diagnosis. With her attitude and smirk she joins Dr Arun Sood in the room- who after roughly handling my head and hair, had to agree with me and told this nasty lady it WAS, after all, what I had said. The doctor was short, rough, and did not take any time to talk me through this - he only sounded annoyed in saying he was going to have to agree. Within 5 minutes I was out the door - short blonde lady noticing I'm no longer engaging with her as she tries to repeat exactly what the doctor just told me about how to administer treatment. YIKES! Never again. Don’t advertise dermatology and plastic surgery if a dermatology concern won’t be of interest to you. Don’t try to make patients feel like they’re ridiculous for having valid concerns. No one should be treated like that! "

"I'm a veteran with a 100% disability rating. I had been breaking out with 2 different conditions and I couldn't figure out why so I sought treatment at the VA. My primary care physician gave me all sorts of creams that didn't work. I fought to get a "telederm" appointment. A tech took photos, sent them to a Puget Sound specialist who misdiagnosed one condition and couldn't diagnose the other. One of my community doctors that I pay out of pocket for was convinced that I had celiac disease. I gave up gluten and one of the conditions cleared up. The other condition was diagnosed as eczema but eczema creams didn't help. I kept reporting this to my primary care physician but after referring me more than once to the VA dermatology clinic, I was denied further care. I went to patient advocate who finally got me an appointment at Affiliated Dermatology, where I was diagnosed with Psoriasis and Celiac Disease. I went back to patient advocate and asked to have a meeting with Dr Reardon to find out why his clinic wouldn't even take me as a patient and he said that his “clinic was too full” and he was “sorry” that I had to go to a community provider. This told me that he didn't even know or care to understand why he was meeting with me. When I told him what really happened, he disagreed with the dermatologist that the VA sent me to, saying that I didn’t even have the conditions. I set up another appointment with affiliated dermatology and I got biopsies for both conditions (which meant I had to eat gluten and make myself sick!!) Both conditions were verified. I told peers about my experience with VA dermatology and found out that another veteran was also misdiagnosed by Puget Sound Telederm. They gave him a generic dermatitis diagnosis and also gave him some cream but later sought another opinion where he was diagnosed with Carcinoma. Dr. Reardon had no apologies for his team’s mistakes. He had wrong answers to questions that had factual answers. I would give him zero stars because I didn’t even get one chance to see anyone in his office. But I’m ultimately glad I didn’t see him-I probably would’ve been misdiagnosed AGAIN anyway. (date of service is around the time I was denied service) "
